Nepathya wraps up Finland Tour at Gloria Theatre
Nepathya which has been in Finland for a series of shows wrapped up the tour with yet another successful show at Gloria Theatre situated in downtown Helsinki.
Nepathya was invited by the organisers of the World Village Festival as the main performer and had delivered a successful performance at the festival on the 28th of May.
"I have been in Finland for almost 7 years now and this is the most successful gathering of Nepalese I have witnessed in Finland. This was truly an unforgettable moment for all Nepalese living here," said Bijay Gurung, a student of International Business with the Helsinki School of Economics.
"I left Nepal 14 years ago and had settled in Finland when Nepathya was emerging in Nepal. I had heard few of their popular songs. But to notice the younger guys following all songs line by line with Amrit was amazing. I knew they were popular and good – but I had not realised they were this popular." says Byoma Tamrakar. She adds, "Not only the young ones – the elderly aamaas(mother)who has been here from the villages of Nepal were also dancing. The show was extremely well packaged and seeing people of all ages dancing to Nepathya was enjoyable."
The show which started at 8:00 pm local Helsinki time on a Wednesday evening was not expected to be a sold out show but it happened otherwise. "People rarely come out during week days and that too for a concert. But this was exceptional." says Byoma.
The show ended at 10:15. But the audience would not go. Roars of "Once mores" echoed the compact auditorium and Nepathya was compelled to come back and perform one more song. The crowd still did not leave – but then it was too much to ask with a Band that performs with a solo singer after close to two and a half hour of performance.
Almost all Nepalese living in Finland had gathered to be part of the show. A Nepali Restaurant running with full Nepali manpower had to be closed for the evening as all working there wanted to attend the show. "All the staff members wanted to attend the show. So I had to decide to close the restaurant." says Ram Prasad Aryal the owner of Satkaar Restaurant.
In addition to the Nepalese living here, about hundred Nepal loving Finnish audience were also present. Among those present there were – Pauli Mustonin, the Finnish Charge de' Affairs to Nepal, and Ms. Marita Meranto – Asia Desk In charge at the Foreign Ministry in Finland.
"This tour has opened door for other Nepali musicians. I hope others come and build on to the image we have been able leave here in Finland. All the boys enjoyed playing for the mixed audience at various shows here. It has certainly been a good experience for all of us." says Amrit Gurung, the front man – vocalist of the band.
"The show has been a great success and I am very happy with the tour" said Pasi Rajender – the President of the Finland – Nepal Friendship Association, the organisers of Nepathya Tour in Finland.
"I enjoyed both the show at The Festival and at Gloria. I feel good and proud when my class mates talk about the Band," say Kriti Huhtinen – a 6th grader second generation Nepali.
