Nepali Documentary Sa… Karnali… to be released in theatre tomorrow
Nepali Documentary film 'Sa Karnali through Dolpa'is releasing tomorrow at Kumari Cinema hall, a premium cinema of Kathmandu.
Made by the makers of Bhedako Oon Jasto – Kiran Krishna Shrestha, the film will take the viewers for a trip to Dolpa a remote district of Nepal situated in the Karnali.
Compared to Bhedako Oon Jasto, where Kiran's camera followed a team searching for a folk tune into the Langtang region – this time it is following a music video team shooting a Nepathya song (Sa Karnali) in Dolpa.
"It is simple – the film starts at Nepalgunj airport and travels via Juphal, Dunai, Suligad before reaching the pristine Se Phoksundo Lake. I was travelling as part of the production team and also had my camera on while all took place. Thus this documentary is made" says Kiran giving a simple storyline of the film.
This time too Kiran's documentary has a row of start cast. Among the main protagonists are – music video maker - Bhusan Dahal, Nepathya singer - Amrit Gurung and Thinle - of Caravan fame.
"The film may simply sound like a film based on the making of the music video – but there is a parallel story of Dolpa. Some part of Dolpa culture, lifestyle, the mind blowing landscape and the art of music video making… all incorporate the content of this 52 minute documentary" adds Kiran, "As Bhedako Oon, this too is made in a fun style and the audience will enjoy every bit of it. Thinle will also be enjoyed."
"It is great to have a theatre release of the film at a hall where Nepali filmmakers crave to put up their films. After Bhedako Oon Jasto, Sa Karnali through Dolpa is probably the 2nd Nepali documentary to get this opportunity. It is challenging but we are confident that it will satisfy the viewers," says Arpan Sharma of nepa~laya, the producers of the film.
"We are accused for not putting Nepali films in our halls. But when we have good films we always go ahead. Bhedako Oon Jastodid well at Jai Nepal in 2003, and we are confident Sa Karnali through Dolpa will run as well. " says Nakim Uddin of Vision Quest Pvt. Ltd. the operating company of Kumari Cinema.
Filmed and directed by Kiran Shrestha, Narayan Wagle has worked with the scripts of the film. It is to be released at Kumari Cinema on 6th of October.
"We are glad to share this yet another moment in Nepali documentaries with all the movie goers of Kathmandu." says Arpan Sharma of nepa~laya.
The film will be released at Kumari on Friday the 6th of October and will be screened on regular screening hours during the weekend till Sunday – 8th of October. From Monday to Thursday – it will only be screened as evening shows.
