Mani Kamal Chetri arrives to sing at coming Paleti

Renowned composer of Nepali Adhunik – Mani Kamal Chetri has arrived in Kathmandu to perform for the Paleti Concert Series scheduled to be staged at nepa~laya's 'r' sala on 28th of July 2006. Chetri is a Darjeeling based musician.

Mani Kamal is not a new name for Nepali Adhunik enthusiast. He is currently employed with the Information and Cultural Department in Darjeeling.
His affiliation with Kathmandu and hence Nepal dates back to those days when Kathmandu used to be linked with a trek route from Hetauda – Bhimphedi. Musical personalities like Ambar Gurung and Narayan Gopal were among those who helped Mani Kamal to record his songs at Radio Nepal during those days.

Initially a flutist turned into a vocalist and then developed into a composer – Mani Kamal, was inclined towards music since his school days. He used sing popular covers then. However he had already recorded 6 duets with Aruna Lama as a student. The closest recording possibility then was in Kolkata. Among songs recorded then were – Saran Pradhan's – Yo Joban lai gharko maya cha ko chaina…

is among his composition recorded by Aruna Lama .

Narayan Gopal had picked 6 Mani Kamal compositions, but with Narayan Goal's demise, it remains unrecorded.

From his unrecorded treasures to his popular creation – Mani Kamal will sing his best creations during this Paleti eve on Friday the 28th. This is to be Mani Kamal's début solo performance.
"Darjeeling is thankful to Paleti for remembering us. I am singing after a long time, however I do expect to gather everyone's love during this show." says Mani Kamal as he rehearses – Galti Hajaar Hunchan yahan hosh harayeko bela… He then remembers Narayn Gopal.

"Mani Kamal is a revered name in Nepali Adhunik. This evening will be a historic moment for Nepali music. We are honoured to have such figure singing for Paleti." says Aavaas – the coordinator of the event.
